About this Website
This website is a collaborative effort among several individuals. Ángel Solís (Instituto Nacional de Biodiversidad) provided access to the holotypes and took all of the type photographs. Ian P. Swift and Larry G. Bezark provided valuable assistance regarding the status of several type specimens. Steven W. Lingafelter (USDA, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, DC) conceptualized the
database. Eugenio (Gino) Nearns (University of New Mexico) developed the website and prepared the online searchable database.
INBio currently has over 30 primary types for Cerambycidae. Authors of these types include Chemsak, Galileo, Giesbert, Hovore, Martins, and Santos-Silva. We have set up the search page to allow users to find images of types by tribe, by country, by author, by original name, or by current name if different. Classification is based on Monné (2005a, 2005b, 2006) and Monné & Bezark (2009).
